St. William of York Catholic School opened in 1992 under the guidance of the Diocese of Arlington Office of Catholic Schools.  In 2021, after an intensive year of self-study, we were once again fully accredited by the Virginia Catholic Education Association which provides accreditation for Catholic Schools in the state of Virginia under the direction of the Virginia State Board of Education.  Our yearly accreditation renewal is a guarantee that we are maintaining or, in many circumstances, exceeding the standards set by the state and the Virginia Catholic Education Association.

In order to maintain our accreditation, all of our teachers hold current teaching certification, and our teachers of Religion, as well as our principal, are certified catechists.
